In this edition of Execs Unplugged, you’ll go behind the scenes with two industry leaders in Medical Devices M&A who were recently involved in one of the biggest medical device transactions: 3M’s $6.7 billion acquisition of Acelity in 2019.

Join Finn Haley (former Senior Strategy & Business Development Director at 3M) and Vikram S Bajaj (former Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at Acelity) to learn about how they managed their careers in the medical device space, how they approach transactions of varying sizes and complexity, and what considerations are critical on the buy and sell sides for medical device transactions.

About Our Guests
Finn Haley joined Edwards Lifesciences as Vice President of Corporate Development in January of 2020. In his role, he is responsible for the corporate development team and the identification and vetting of strategic partnerships and/or acquisitions to continually optimize the company’s ability to provide innovative solutions with maximum patient benefit.
Prior to joining the company, Finn worked for 3M Company in Saint Paul, MN, where he served as the Senior Strategy & Business Development Director of the Medical Division. Also at 3M, Finn held positions of increasing responsibility, including Project Leader for Corporate M&A, Global Business Line Manager for Wound Care, and Strategy and Business Development in the Healthcare Business as well as the Critical & Chronic Care Division. Prior to 3M,
Finn worked in investment banking with Duff and Phelps Corp. and Piper Jaffray & Co, including coverage on the healthcare team before joining industry. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction from University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business, and an MBA with Honors from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Vikram S Bajaj is a seasoned healthcare executive of over 15 years, with extensive strategic, M&A, financial, and commercial experience. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Kepro, a leading healthcare services company. In his role, he is responsible for leading the finance organization and strategic M&A initiatives.
Prior to joining Kepro, Vikram served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Acelity, a high growth medical device company, and the largest wound care company in the world. Acelity, a portfolio company of Apax Partners, was sold to 3M for $6.7 billion, and Acelity’s regenerative medicine business, Lifecell, was sold to Allergan for $2.9 billion.
During his tenure, he led corporate strategy and a successful strategic M&A program, including several acquisitions, divestitures of non-core businesses, and eventual sale of the company. He was also responsible for leading Acelity’s disruptive digital health business, which transformed patient engagement and provider experience leading to lower health system costs.
Prior to his role at Acelity, Vikram was Vice President of J.P.Morgan’s Investment Banking Group in New York, focused on M&A advisory, and equity and debt capital raising for healthcare companies. Vikram’s professional career started at Arthur Andersen, where he provided Assurance and Business Advisory services to clients.

Vikram holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from the Shriram College of Commerce at Delhi University, and is a Chartered Accountant.
